| Under the beginning of Zheng-Cheng-Gong's dominion, there were not many Han people in Nan-Tou and the place was robbed and plundered by the Da-Du Tribe. General Liu-Guo-Quan led an assault on the Da-Du Tribe, from Wu-River to Guoxing area. And then they encamped and reclaimed wasteland there and called the place "Duo-Xing Pu". This is the origin of "Guoxing Township". |

| From 1850 to 1961, by the attack of Han people in the western part, the residents were forced to leave their homes and move into Pu-Li continually. And the Han village was established around Guoxing area. Pu-Li office was established in 1875 and people whose surnames were Xu, Zhuang and Liao moved in from the Guang-Dong province. In the same year, the Qing government promoted on "Educate Natives" policy and built a road and then promoted another immigration trend. In 1878, there were many people who made camphor that crowded into the Miao-Li area. The despotic gentry Lin-Chao-Dong gained battles again and again in Wu-Feng, and then general Liu-Ming-Chuan gave him the right of monopoly to sell camphor in Taiwan and he made a big profit from it. For protecting the camphor, Lin settled mangy blockhouses along the way and stationed garrisons. He posted 3 sentries, one was in Ma-An Mountain, another was in Bei-Gang River and the other was in Shui-Chang-Liu. Lin played an important role of the development in Guoxing Township. The land in Guoxing was so fertile that it attracted the Hakka people in Dong-Shi to move from Xin-She into Guoxing. | |
| Nan-Gang River and Bei-Gang River converge in Wu-River and flow along Cao-Tun. Bei-Gang River's water quality was the best in Taiwan when Taiwan was still a colony of Japan. There are many different fish and the "mountain fish" is one of the special fish that we are trying to protect. The area has great ecological and natural resources.
